After receiving a few requests, Financial Toolbelt has now started supporting the ability for users to change the dollar sign from US Dollars to either Euro or British Pound. This should hopefully allow more of our users to get the information they need quickly in currency that is easier to reference. We are trying to make understanding your finances as easy as possible and it isn't just a US-centric idea. We want to support more currencies moving forward, but most other currencies will require larger changes. Once new ones are live we will keep users posted.
Well, right now it really doesn't all that much. Selecting the currency doesn't change how the computation works (for now) it mostly just changes the dollar symbol to your currency of choice. It is purely cosmetic at the moment and does not take exchange rate into account. Essentially, the idea is that the site can be put more into "local" terms because we had users asking if they had to convert their salary from Euro to USD. Now you can just select your currency and hopefully it lessens the confusion for more of our users.
We are looking into supporting more currencies in the near future. We would like to take general exchange rates into account in the future so the site can be useful for as many people as possible. We are looking into plugging into some APIs to translate our insights from USD to any currency of your choice.
If you have any thoughts or feedback on how to best approach it, we would love to hear it!
