Considering a career change can be a scary prospect for anyone looking to take the leap from their existing job. Trying to figure out if you want to switch industries, what companies you want to work for, and getting your resume through the door are all daunting tasks. When I was first trying to break into software development, I basically felt like I was fumbling my way through trying to figure out what employers wanted and also gaining the experience that I needed to personally grow. For most of us, I think these feelings are very common.
Luckily, there are other people sharing their stories about the steps they took to get their dream job or break into a new industry. It can feel inspiring to see the hurdles that others have had through their career, especially when today's career landscape seems to no longer have any true "traditional" path. Employees seem to be switching jobs and careers much more often and it is now becoming normal to have a new employer every couple of years. In fact, many companies are looking for employees that have been exposed to multiple industries and different experiences so they can bring a more rounded perspective to the workplace.
We put together a list of some of the podcasts that give a healthy dose of both inspiration and repeatable steps when changing your career. If you are looking for some motivation to find your next job, take a listen to some of these episodes to get some inspiration from those who have already taken the leap.
The Career Relaunch Podcast is produced by Joseph Liu where he interviews people who have changed their careers mid-stream. Some of the changes his guest have made are pretty drastic and it is cool to hear how others broke out of their shell and into new careers. If you feel stuck and you are mid-career this one is the podcast for you.
While this show is no longer being actively produced, I liked going through the archives to learn about how other people ended up in the jobs they did. This show is (obviously) specifically geared towards Millenials, who I think can often feel lost in the rapidly changing job market.
If you are feeling burnt out, working remotely can be a great way to invigorate the passion for your career. This podcast talks with company leaders and employees about how they approach the remote work lifestyle. I found that it can provide the scripts and talking points you would need to approach your own job about the possibility of working remotely.

If you aren't quite sure what you want to do, but know you are looking for something different, page through the large archive of episodes in the Happen to Your Career Podcast and listen to a few that seem interesting. Most of us looking for a change know we want something different, but can't quite put our finger on it. This podcast wants to help you figure that out and start making the changes for a new career.
This podcast is about making the ultimate career change and starting location-independent companies where you work for yourself. Even though it is largely focused on entrepreneurship, there are still a ton of great episodes that are nice to listen to even when working a 9-5.
