What does a Front End Developer do?

If you have ever been interested in helping create how a website looks and feels with code, then becoming a Front End Developer might be right for you. Front End Developers are responsible for creating the interfaces that you use on your phone, tablet, and computer every day. They take the designs that come from a designer for a website or app and turn it into code. Front End Developers work closely with UX, UI, and Back End Developers to ensure that everything is properly implemented for a new product.

Please note not to confuse this job with with a User Interface Designer, who is using tools like Photoshop and Illustrator to create high fidelity designs of the website or application. If you have ever had an experience with a website that felt smooth, easy to use, and easy to navigate you can thank the front end developer for actually developing the interface you use and the designers for creating the initial designs.

In your daily life you might be working on anything from fixing bugs on different browsers to creating fun animations. There are a ton of coding languages that a front end developer might use, but the ones new developers normally first learn are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. These three languages provide you with the proper base to then expand into different tools and frameworks like LESS, Angular, or React. If all of this sounds like gibberish, no worries. Once you go through some of the basic materials, you will have a deeper understanding of all of your options for creating immersive and user-friendly applications.
